Invisibility Cloak?

Today I found a very interesting article stating that scientists are in the process of developing an invisibility cloak that causes an object and it’s shadow to be virtually “invisible” to anyone looking at it.

It’s like a mirage, where heat causes the bending of light rays and cloaks the road ahead behind an image of the sky.

Update: The above link no longer works.

“We have built an artificial mirage that can hide something from would-be observers in any direction,” said cloak designer David Schurig, a research associate in Duke University’s electrical and computer engineering department.

Click the link above to view the article. This is a very interesting and somewhat scary thought to know that someone can become invisible, imagine the security problems! Surely they will have to incorporate some detectable flaw in it to prevent abuse.
